Casares

Casares is a municipality in Southern Spain, in the province of Málaga, in the region of Andalusia. It borders the province of Cádiz, the western end of the Costa del Sol.

The municipality of Casares is divided into two distinct areas: Casares Costa, the beachside area, with residential developments, a shopping centre and bars and restaurants. It is ideally situated for exploring the western end of the Costa del Sol, from Marbella and Estepona, to Sotogrande, including Gibraltar and the province of Cádiz. The old historic town of Casares is situated in the mountains, a little further inland, at 430m above sea level. It is a typical example of an Andalusian white village, with steep and narrow winding streets, and white houses.

The area offers many facilities and opportunities for those interested in activities like water sports, or for exploring further inland - either individually or on guided excursions; or for those who simply want to relax in a beach bar, or to enjoy the area’s delicious cuisine and a glass of wine or sangria. Casares Costa is also an excellent destination for golfing trips, or for those who only want to play a round or two whilst enjoying a holiday in the area. There are several world-class courses nearby, including La Duquesa Golf & Country Club, Estepona Golf and Valderrama (Sotogrande).
