Costa del Sol Occidental

Costa del Sol Occidental

The Costa del Sol Occidental is one of the nine districts in the province of Málaga, in the autonomous region of Andalusia. To the west, it is bordered by the province of Cádiz and is made up of several municipalities: Benahavís, Benalmádena, Casares, Estepona, Fuengirola, Manilva, Marbella, Mijas and Torremolinos. The Costa del Sol Occidental is a coastal geographical area bounded by the Penibetic mountain range to the north and the sea to the south.

In this narrow strip between the mountains and the sea there is a great diversity of landscapes: beaches, cliffs, estuaries, coves and dunes. Sandy beaches line most of the coast, except for some rocky stretches in Manilva, Mijas, Torremolinos and Benalmádena. The coastline includes the bays of Estepona, Marbella and Fuengirola.
