Benalmádena
Benalmádena nestles on a small strip between the foothills of the Mijas mountain range and the coast. The village is situated in the upper part of the municipality offering a magnificent panoramic view. Further down is the urban centre of Arroyo de la Miel, where most of the population is concentrated and, finally, Benalmádena-Costa, which has a large number of hotels, golf courses, a casino and a marina. With 72,000 inhabitants, Benalmádena is the seventh most populous municipality in the province and the second in metropolitan area, after Málaga.
Nowadays, Benalmádena is one of the main tourist destinations on the Costa del Sol, notable for its leisure facilities, which include an amusement park, two aquariums, a casino, a cable car and one of the largest marinas in Andalusia. The area is very well connected to the provincial capital and other towns along the Mediterranean coast, as it is crossed in an east-west direction by the A-7 motorway.
